What We Do

We use the power of education and technology with the aid of our e-HEAL Talking Books as a simple to use social behavioural change tool to help pass life saving information (in local languages) to enable women of childbearing age better care for themselves and their newborns.

Abuja, Nigeria 25th Jan. 2017: Happy to announce the completion of the e-HEAL Talking Books in our Reducing Maternal & Child Mortality Series (Hausa and English versions). The contents of the Electronic Health Education in Any Language (eHEAL) series are in line with the “Facts for Life” materials produced by UNICEF, WHO, UNESCO, UNFPA, UNDP, UNAIDS, WFP and the World Bank, and we are deeply grateful to these bodies.
We also acknowledge and express our gratitude to Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PHN) for providing funding to enable us produce the e-HEAL Talking Book Series on Reducing Maternal & Child Mortality in Nigeria.

Breastfeeding & Nutrition e-HEAL Talking Book (in Hausa & English)

Abuja, Nigeria 15th Dec. 2016 : We are pleased to announce the launch of the Breastfeeding & Nutrition e-HEAL Book in the Reducing Maternal & Child Mortality Series. It comes with many simple to understand pictures and audio (from the Mavis Pen) in a language they understand (Hausa or English). More books will be launched in the coming weeks to cover:

  • Hygiene
  • Immunization
  • Malaria
  • …and more

 

The kits are also affordable. An e-HEAL Talking Book Kit costs about $150 and can serve 10 to 30 women in a community (which is about $5 - $15/woman). Each kit contains:
• 1x Mavis digital Pen Pack
• 5+ Antenatal and Postnatal care e-HEAL Talking Books
• 1x Hausa-Learning-English Talking Book
• 1x Portable Solar Charging Kit)

We are also happy to work with various health organisations, development partners, NGOs and others in the public and primary healthcare space who have health materials that they will like to get digitized in the Talking Books format to reach out to us and we will be glad to work with you to make it happen. Mission: Health Education + Local Language + Saving Lives

Our e-HEAL (Electronic Health Education in Any Language) Kits will provide vital health information in the local languages that women of child bearing age in rural communities in Nigeria will understand (Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Kanuri, Fulfulde, etc).

Award Winner at the Health Innovation Challenge

e-HEAL Project wins $30,000 at the PHN Health Innovation Challenge
 
Mavis Health was one of the 5 winners that received an award and a grant of $30,000 from the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (See http://phn.ng/publications.php) for our e-HEAL (Electronic Health Education in Any Language) project. The aim is to reduce maternal and child mortality rates in Nigeria, where about 1 million women of child bearing age and children (under the age of 5) die yearly.
